As of the end of 2023, about 70% of large Russian companies have already started import substitution of software and hardware, State Duma deputy Anton Nemkin told RSpectr. According to him, import substitution is entering a new phase, and this year such projects should move into the practical plane, which will help the growth of the domestic IT market in Russia.
Anton Nemkin, State Duma:
– When the shock of Western content writing service vendors leaving passed and import substitution strategies were developed, companies began to focus on quality. At the same time, there are more and more offers on the Russian market and many of them are worthy competitors to solutions from foreign manufacturers.
Almost all major software developers, IT equipment manufacturers and integrators have actively joined the substitution race. At the same time, according to the deputy,
In the near future, customer spending on equipment will grow faster than spending on software and IT services
According to Anton Nemkin, an explosive growth in equipment purchases is being recorded among representatives of large businesses, providers of various services for preliminary testing and rotation of equipment due to obsolescence. "Other sectors of business and the economy will also inevitably be involved in the trend, since the process of import substitution, both in terms of hardware and software, is, first and foremost, about safety," the expert is sure.
Russian vendors who make import-substituting products are great guys, Git in Sky CEO Sergey Zhitinsky emphasized in a conversation with RSpectr. According to him, they have to solve a complex problem that Western companies have been solving for 30 years, in just a few years. They are not only actively catching up with their competitors, but will also be able to overtake them.
Sergey Zhitinsky, Git in Sky:
– I don’t think that Russian companies have a serious motivation to purchase domestic IT equipment if there were no regulatory requirements. The small number of Russian vendors “relaxes” them somewhat, since customers from the public sector will buy this equipment anyway.
The situation, according to the expert, may change when many players appear and the market becomes highly competitive. However,
the IT equipment market is complex and requires serious investment, so this will not happen soon
ANXIOUS EXPECTATION
“So far, government customers have not asked us to implement a solution in the cloud exclusively on hardware from Russian manufacturers,” Rustam Shaidulov, Commercial Director of Aiteko.Cloud, told RSpectr.
